Choi San

This evening, I started my third round of CC speeches – “Born Free” which is project speech # 1 at the Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club meeting. To think that after making 41 speeches, I would not be harboring butterflies in my stomach – but I was wrong – I did have them; their restive wings fluttering excitedly. Still, I managed to calm them enough to deliver a 6-minute-15-seconds speech that I believed was good! Teresa Chan, ACS CL was my evaluator and she commended me for speaking from my heart. A very good speech she said and true enough, I won the Best Speaker award tonight.

Choi San sent me a photo taken at the recent Miri Toastmasters Convention. Thanks, Choi San.
For those who don’t know, she is the most hard-working Area Governor in District 51 – in my opinion, that is. I am truly privileged to know her. And I am sure Area P3 has benefited much from her dedication and commitment.

The five airy-fairy MPs who left PKR have set up an independent bloc known as Konsensus Bebas (Independent Consensus) as the official platform for their members in Parliament. These members include Zahrain Mohamed Hashim (Bayan Baru), Wee Choo Keong (Wangsa Maju), Zulkifli Nordin (Kulim-Bandar Baharu), Tan Tee Beng (Nibong Tebal) and Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri (Bagan Serai) – touting themselves as the “third force” – vowed they would accomplish their responsibilities without the patronage of any political party (The Star, June 08, 2010, p N19). They may claim to be independent and non-partisan but will they be effective? I am not hopeful. I just pray they won't become clowns! If they do, then they're the real jokers in the pack!
